How To Look Chic For The 4th Of July
Dressing in theme for a holiday can be a bit of a struggle, you don’t want to go full-out and look tacky but you don’t want to not do anything and look like you have no holiday spirit. There is a science to dressing up for a holiday and if you follow these rules you will definitely be the chicest at the party.
Color Scheme
When dressing for the fourth of July, I think it is important to wear at least one of the traditional colors, so red, white, or blue. I would suggest choosing two colors and planning your outfit around them, you can wear a white top, blue jeans, and white shoes for example. If you are adamant about wearing all three colors I suggest you do it in a very subtle way like a red top, blue cutoffs, and then something subtle like white nail polish. This way you are showing holiday spirit without overdoing it.
Plan For The Event
Always keep the venue in mind when picking out your outfit for the day. If you are headed to an outdoor barbecue try a cute white dress with some sandals or if you are spending the day by the pool or on the beach try a red bikini with blue jean cutoff shorts. Your outfit should be planned around your activities for the day so make sure you know in advance what your plans are so you can figure out the perfect outfit.
Be Consistent With Accessories
Keep your accessories on the causal side, throwing on a crazy fourth inspired headband with your little white dress is going to ruin the whole vibe of your look. Staying away from tacky accessories is crucial for an understated yet spirited look.
Be Yourself
The most important thing you can do is stay true to your own personal style. You don’t need to go out and buy a new outfit for every event or holiday. People with the best style know how to take what they have and make it look like something new and fresh. Try looking in your closet and trying on things you haven’t touched in years because you might end up loving some of your older clothes again. I personally don’t see the point in buying something holiday-themed that you can only wear one day a year, I would much rather buy something that I can keep in my closet and wear almost year-round.
