By now COVID-19 is everywhere and is affecting nearly everyone on Earth in some way and because of this, we are being forced to take extreme measures by quarantining ourselves in our homes. I live in California so our quarantine has been going on for quite some time; while Netflix and working from home was relaxing and fun at first, it gets really old really fast. I have come up with a list of things that have kept me very busy and will continue to do so for a little while longer while I am confined to my house, so I thought I would share some of the things that are on my To-Do list and hopefully, this will help you out if you are looking for things to keep you occupied during this strange time. If you are having a hard time or struggling right now, one thing to remember is that you are not alone, virtually everyone on the planet is going through the same situation and probably feeling the same way you are.

This post is all about the best ways to stay busy during the quarantine.

Go Through Emails- This is the perfect time to declutter your home and your life in general. One of the first things I did at the start of my quarantine was going through and clearing out my inbox. I had been super busy with work for the past couple of weeks so my inbox was piling up. This took about 2 days to get through, but it is so satisfying to look at my phone and not see that I have hundreds of emails waiting to be opened.

Clean Out Your Closet- If I am ever feeling like I’m in a rut one of my favorite things to do is switch up my wardrobe. The first step to doing this is to go through and purge your closet of anything you don’t wear, doesn’t fit, or just isn’t your style anymore. A rule I like to go by to stop holding on to things that I just do not wear is to think, “If I have to make up a scenario in my head to wear this to then I shouldn’t keep it.”

Deep Clean Your House/Apartment- It was about time for “spring cleaning” anyway and with all this extra time on our hands, it’s the perfect opportunity to get this done. Cleaning can be really relaxing and can honestly be a good workout depending on how much effort you put in. With this virus going around it is even more motivation to disinfect and really deep clean everything around you.

Learn A New Skill- I spent the first few days of my quarantine snacking and doing mindless things like watching endless tv and movies. To keep my brain from turning into complete mush I decided to learn a new skill or work on one that I already knew a little bit about. This is a great time to learn something new for your own personal benefit or to gain knowledge about something that could further your career in some way. There are so many different things you can do whether it’s something artistic like painting or technology-based like learning how to use Photoshop or Excel. If you are looking to start learning a new language I recommend using Duolingo or Babbel, I have been using these to learn French for years and I love it.

Do Something You’ve Always Wanted To- Take this time to pursue that thing you have always wanted to do but always been too scared or too nervous. Make a website, start a youtube channel, etc. because now is a perfect time. There are no possible excuses not to get around to doing this since you will probably never have a chance like this again. Use this as a sign to go after a dream or do something you have had on your mind for a while.

Get Some Exercise And Fresh Air- Even though we are “social distancing” we can still stay active and get exercise. If working out is something you are used to doing every day it is important to continue to try and keep your day-to-day life as normal as possible but, if you are new to working out now is the perfect time to start. There are so many great workouts you can find on Youtube that can be done in your home or backyard. Getting fresh air is necessary to your health and just your sanity, as long as you are taking proper precautions, going outside for a walk, run, or hike is completely safe.
